Penzer Opticians set to stay open during the third lockdown

The good news is that if you need to get an eye test, or require other optical services, Penzer Opticians will be remaining open during the present lockdown.

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) has confirmed that opticians can remain open as they are classed as an essential service by the Government. The AOP said in a statement:

‘Following the announcements on 4 January 2021 of new national lockdowns in England and Scotland, and previous measures in Wales and Northern Ireland, our understanding is that optical practices can remain open to provide eye care for patients, prioritising emergency and essential care in line with current guidance from the NHS, Governments and the College of Optometrists.

‘Many AOP members are understandably concerned about the risks of continuing to provide face to face eye healthcare in the current circumstances.

‘We accept that under the current NHS, Government and College guidance, practices are able to offer routine care where capacity allows. However, if a practice continues to offer routine care at this time, it must maintain stringent measures to manage the risks of COVID-19 infection.

‘With optometrists remaining open for routine appointments during this lockdown, we are urging anyone who needs a sight test to contact their local practice to book an appointment.’

So, Penzer Opticians remains open and at your service for routine eye check-ups as well as other optical requirements, including contact lens consultations, frame repairs and the sale of frames and contact lenses.

The practice continues to operate is a COVID-19 secure environment and you will be required to observe our strict regime, designed to keep you and our staff safe from the disease. But please so not turn up at the practice unannounced. You should ring Penzers on 0121 430 5538 to make an appointment.
