The Midlands Enterprise Awards organised by SME News reward and recognise the hardworking individuals and firms hailing from the Midlands region for their innovation and excellence in their business practice as well as their outstanding overall performance. Recently Penzer Opticians was announced as a winner in these prestigious awards as a leading local independent opticians.
The Midlands, home to over ten million people, hosting eight hundred thousand businesses is the heart of England. Many of these smaller, yet influential businesses to the region, often go overlooked, despite their achievements, missing out on the recognition they so richly deserve.
Natalie Farrell, Award Coordinator discusses the success of this year’s programme: “In a region which has become the most popular location, outside of London, for the emergence of new businesses to start-up in recent years and attracting regional high record levels of foreign direct investment over the last decade, there is truly much to celebrate across the various trades and industries operating across the East and West Midlands. I am immeasurably proud of my winners and wish them the best of luck for the future.”
SME News prides itself on the validity of its awards and winners. The awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition.
The aetiology of myopia is multifactorial, involving interplay between environmental and genetic factors. The recent precipitous rise in myopia prevalence, however, is believed to be the consequence of environmental and lifestyle change. Decreased time outdoors, urbanisation, increased time spent in education and time spent reading continuously or in long periods of close work, have been identified as risk factors for myopia onset or progression. In the midst of a technological age, children are now exposed to another possible environmental risk factor for myopia – digital devices.
Smartphones, tablets and computers are widely used at a very early age in both home and school environments. Read more “Small screen smartphone addiction is a big risk for eye health”
